A good thread is an argument broken into steps, and most of the work is deciding what goes in each post. The X Thread Generator turns your topic and key points into a numbered thread of 5 to 10 posts, each 280 characters or fewer including spaces, ready to paste into X.
Post 1 is written as the hook and makes sense on its own, because it is the only post most people see before deciding to open the thread. Each following post carries one idea, and the last one sums up the takeaway with a single call to action.
For a single idea, X Posts (Tweets) is the better fit. To find something to write about, start with X Post Ideas. Both are in the Social media family.
What you get
- 5 to 10 posts, fewer when your notes are short
- Every post within 280 characters, numbered 1/ 2/ 3/
- An opening post that works alone as a hook
- A closing post with the takeaway and one call to action
- At most one hashtag, and placeholders such as [figure] or [link] for missing details
What you fill in
- Thread topic and key points optional
-
The main idea, the points or steps to cover, any examples or figures you have, and where readers should go at the end
How to use it, step by step
-
Write the points, not the thread
List the main idea and the steps to cover, in order. Rough notes are enough.
-
Add your own figures and examples
Include the numbers, cases or tools you actually use. Anything missing appears as a placeholder, so nothing is invented for you.
-
Say where readers should go
End your notes with the action you want, such as following you or visiting a page, and paste the link.
-
Generate, then check post 1
Pick the output language and tone and generate. Check that post 1 works alone, replace every placeholder, then paste the posts into X in order.
Example, input and output
Input
- Thread topic and key points
- How I price translation projects as a freelancer: per word for documents, per hour for reviews, a minimum fee for short jobs, always a written quote, link to my rates page at the end
Output
2/ Documents are priced per word. It is easy for clients to compare and easy for me to quote from the source file before I start.
3/ Reviews and proofreading are priced per hour. Quality varies too much to price them per word, so I estimate the hours and say so up front.
4/ Short jobs have a minimum fee. A short email takes as much admin as a long file.
5/ Every project gets a written quote first. Scope, deadline and price in one message.
6/ The takeaway: pick a unit that fits the work, set a floor, and put it in writing. My current rates are here: [link]

Tips for better results
- Give more points than you need. Cutting eight posts to six is easier than stretching thin notes.
- Put your most specific claim first in the notes. The hook is built from it.
- One thread, one topic. Two subjects make two threads.
Who uses it, and for what
Consultants and freelancers
Turn the method you explain to every new client into a thread that links to your services page.
Founders sharing lessons
Write up a launch or a change of plan as a short sequence of lessons, using only facts you want to share.
Writers reusing long content
Paste the key points of an article and get a thread that links to it.
Limits and good practice
- It writes the text only. It does not publish, schedule or measure the thread on X.
- It uses only the facts you give. Check names and figures, and replace every placeholder before posting.
- One run writes the whole thread and uses credits from your plan, so start from complete notes. See pricing for the credits in each plan, or create an account to write your first thread.
Frequently asked questions
How long should an X thread be?
Long enough to cover the idea and no longer. The tool writes 5 to 10 posts and uses fewer when your notes are short, because a thread that repeats itself loses readers early. If you need more than ten posts, the content probably belongs in an article, with a short thread linking to it.
Why does the first post matter so much?
In the timeline people see the first post on its own and decide in a moment whether to open the rest. The tool writes post 1 as a hook that makes a clear promise without depending on what follows. Check that it still makes sense if someone reads nothing else.
Does the tool number the posts?
Yes. Each post starts with its number, as in 1/ 2/ 3/, and posts are separated by a blank line so you can copy them one at a time. Numbering shows readers how far they are and makes it easier to reply to a specific point.
Will it add hashtags to every post?
No. The whole thread gets at most one hashtag, in the first or last post, and only when it is genuinely used for the topic. Hashtags in every post make a thread harder to read and rarely help people find it, so the tool leaves them out.
Can I write the thread in Italian?
Yes. Choose Italian as the output language and every post, placeholders included, is written in Italian within the same 280-character limit. If you publish in both languages, generate each version separately instead of translating one, so neither breaks the limit.
