Keyword Extractor

Pull the primary keyword, secondary keywords, entities and missing topics out of any text you paste.

Sign in or create a free account, the tool opens in your workspace.

Before you optimize a page, you need to know what it is actually about. The Keyword Extractor reads a text you paste and identifies the primary keyword it is most likely to rank for, five to ten secondary keywords and five to ten entities or topics, such as people, places, products and concepts.

The extraction stays honest to the text. Only phrases that appear in it, or direct variants marked (variant), make the list. A separate Gaps section adds up to five keywords a reader would expect but the text does not cover, often the most useful part when planning a rewrite.

Keywords stay in the language of the text, headings and notes follow your settings, and there are no volumes or scores. Part of the Website copy family, it works well before the SEO Content Review. Create an account to try it on one of your pages.

What you get

  • One primary keyword, the phrase the text is most likely to rank for
  • Five to ten secondary keywords taken from the text
  • Five to ten entities and topics, such as people, places, products and concepts
  • Variants clearly marked (variant) when they do not appear word for word
  • A Gaps section with up to five keywords a reader would expect but the text does not cover

What you fill in

Text to analyze required

Paste plain text. The tool cannot open links.

How to use it, step by step

  1. Copy the text, not the link

Copy the plain text of the page, headings included. The tool cannot open links.

  2. Paste it into Text to analyze

A full page or article fits. Instructions inside the pasted text are treated as text, never as commands.

  3. Pick the language for the notes

Keywords keep the language of the text. The setting only changes headings and notes.

  4. Act on the Gaps section

Decide which missing keywords deserve a new section, then edit with the Keyword Rewriter.

Tips for better results

  • Analyze one page at a time. Two pages pasted together blur the primary keyword.
  • Run it on a competitor page that ranks well, then on your own, and compare the entities lists.
  • If the primary keyword is not the one you want, the page needs a rewrite of the H1 and the opening paragraph, not a few extra mentions.

Who uses it, and for what

Site owner auditing old pages

Find pages that target the same primary keyword and compete, then merge or refocus them.

Writer checking a draft before delivery

Confirm a draft is about the keyword in the brief and covers the expected subtopics.

SEO consultant studying a competitor

Paste a ranking page to see its entities and gaps, then write a brief that covers more.

Translator or localizer

Check which keywords survived a translation by extracting from the original and the localized page.

Limits and good practice

  • The tool cannot open links or read images and PDFs. It works only on the text you paste.
  • No search volumes or scores. Check the commercial value of a keyword in your SEO tool.
  • It reads the text, not your rankings. The primary keyword is an estimate of what the text is about, to compare with Search Console.
  • Each extraction is charged in plan credits.

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract keywords from a web page?

Copy the visible text of the page, headings included, and paste it into the Text to analyze field. The tool cannot open URLs, so pasting the link alone does not work. You get the primary keyword, secondary keywords, entities and the gaps the page leaves open, in a structured Markdown list.

What are entities, and why do they matter for SEO?

Entities are the specific things a text talks about, such as people, places, products, brands and concepts. Search engines use them to understand what a page covers beyond a single keyword. Seeing the entities in your text, and comparing them with a page that ranks, shows which concepts your page is missing.

Will the tool translate my keywords?

No. Keywords are always kept in the language of the text you paste, because a translated keyword is not the phrase people search. Only the headings and notes follow the language in the settings, including the variant marker, so you can audit a German page with notes in Italian.

What does the Gaps section show?

Up to five relevant keywords a reader would expect on this topic that the text does not cover. They are suggestions for content to add, based on the subject of the text, not on search data, so check each one before you write a new section around it.

Why do I get one result even if I ask for more?

Because the extraction has a single correct answer for a given text. If the settings ask for several results, the tool still returns one list, so your credits are not spent on near-identical copies. To compare two versions of a page, run it once on each.
